Extra Curricular Activities

Teachers and parents recognize that:
1. All that is worth knowing cannot be taught or learned in the classroom environment;
2. Co-curricular school activities can provide appropriate challenges and avenues to achievement and help establish a balance between educating for academic growth and educating for transition to self-hood. RBPS endeavors to provide a program of student activities designed to develop self-directed, responsible social interaction in an atmosphere of mutual respect and cooperation and to provide the opportunity for each student to develop interests, skills and attitudes which contribute to the worthwhile use of leisure time.
There are several after-school activities for students. These activities are offered where appropriate for the students in Primary 1 through 6. There should be at least 7 students who would like to join extra-curricular activity. Otherwise school has the right not to offer activities where number of applicant is less than 10. Some of these extra-curricular activities are;
Study Hour
The study hour is for the students who needs tutor for their homework. An assistant teacher and class teacher will assist students while they do their homework themselves. Aim of study hour is to help students to learn study habit, give them opportunity to ask the points that they misunderstood directly to teacher and have extra help to understand topics.
Movie Club
The club is for the students who like cinema and watching movies. Primary aim of the club is to improve English level of the students. Movies are mainly selected from pre-adult levels and they are suitable for student's understanding. Movies are subtitled to be easily understood. At the end of the club hour, students' comments are asked. And some times summary of the movie is assigned in written form by the students.
Beginner's Chinese Language Club
Chinese phonetic symbols with detailed explanation, Chinese characters' stroke order, Chinese language for daily usage consisting of basic conversations about greetings, addressing people, visiting people, some face to face oral tests, Classroom usage of the language, and some additional lessons like Cambodian provincial names in Chinese. Chinese beginner book is the course book. The objective of the club is to strengthen the general knowledge of the students about Chinese language, the ability of speaking, writing and listening.
Music Club
The students who attend to this club learn about musical notes first. And they start to learn rhythms of simple songs. After the students improved themselves they initiate rhythms of famous songs.
Art Club
At the beginning of the club, the students focus on basic artistic concepts and techniques such as composition, perspective, distance and shading. These initial basic building blocks enable the students to gain confidence in exploring art and to attempt simple still life compositions. Students start by using pencil and paper. After enough improvement, drawings switch from basic drawing techniques to basic linear drawing, from paper to canvas, and from pencil to paint. During this period, students are thought basic brush techniques and use of color. After that, students begin 'project assignments'. Using the techniques developed previously, the students learn how to apply these to landscape pictures providing practice in drawing-together concepts such as perspective, composition, measurement and detail.
Chess Club
At the beginning of the club the students learn the basics of chess such as dimensions and orientation of chess table, kinds and movements of the chessmen and general rules of chess. After that students start to play with each other. Sometimes competitions are arranged between students and student to computer. Some students win against beginner and intermediate levels of computer.
Turkish Language Club
The aim of the club is to intruduce Turkish language. Reading dialogues, listening, comprehension exercises, practice reading and writing are the subjects of Turkish club. Some games and activities proper to Basic Turkish, some PowerPoint slides, video shows, and movies are some examples of the club activities. Preparing flash cards to improve their vocabulary, memorizing Turkish poems and Turkish songs, playing word games, puzzles, crosswords and word searches are some examples of the activities.
Computer Club
The aim of the Computer Club is to make the students familiar with computer and computer software. Students are introduced to different concepts and skills. Some of these skills are learning typing and software programs such as Microsoft word, Microsoft paint.
Students learn why computers are so important and they understand how they can use computer in the daily life.
Drama Club
Participants of this club perform drama and learn the art of act. As a result of this they socialize and learn the basic of art of act
Lego Club
During this club the students are able to use their engineering skills to create different models

Ưn addition to clubs,RBPS offers specilaized advanced study teams.Team meetings are usually held after school and on weekends.
